Literature Summary Research Assistant
Our research lab publishes dozens of papers every year to promote projects in our field of research. Among these papers are systematic reviews of relevant literature, which analyze the progression of research within our field.We would like to collaborate with students to support our literature review process by categorizing papers and summarizing important findings. This allows us to extract and process data more easily.This will involve several different steps for the students, including:Familiarizing themselves with our research and the types of academic papers that we are interested in.Reading studies relevant to our area of research.Applying the categorization scheme to classify relevant studies.Summarizing important results from relevant studies.Bonus steps in the process would also include:Working with researchers to draft a publication based on the results.
Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Application
Our company advertises thousands of products, and we want to leverage the latest technology to gain market advantage. Applications of this technology include recommendation algorithms, predictive analytics like lifetime values, fraud detections, and classifications.We would like to collaborate with students to apply the latest artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques to our existing dataset. Website UI / UX Design & Prototype
Our company would like to explore re-designing our current website with a prototype. We are always on the lookout for innovative and fresh UI and UX ideas that will help our users.This will involve: Conducting background research on our existing web application for the product. Mapping Black Renters in the Greater Toronto Area: Addressing Urban Inequities through Gamification
The goal of this project is to shed light on housing disparities faced by black renters in the GTA and explore the intersectionality of race with various socio-economic variables. The project aims to provide researchers, academics, policymakers, journalists, and students with a central repository of data that explores the intersectionality of race, class, income, employment, education, immigrant or citizen status, and various urban indicators such as access to transit, public/green space, amenities, schools, daycares, health facilities, community centers, crime rates, and housing characteristics such as landlord type and housing type.

As a Bilingual Data Collection Assistant for this project, you will play a pivotal role in the meticulous assessment of assumptions within a Theory of Change.
