Proteomics and Metabolomics Project
BIOL 4415
This course covers the fundamental concepts and applications of protein characterization techniques ("proteomics") as well as how individual and community-wide metabolism are studied ("metabolomics"). Cutting-edge proteomics and metabolomics methods will be applied to real-world datasets and problems to characterize biological systems and explain phenotypes. This course will help prepare students for future work on using, characterizing, and designing novel protein and metabolism-based tools applicable to research and industrial applications. Students taking this course will gain skills for future work designing experiments, analyzing, and integrating data on the proteomes and metabolomes of various biological systems
Bioinformatics Capstone
BINF 4225
This research-based course offers students the opportunity to apply and integrate knowledge and skills gained in previous courses and during their work internship experience. Students will take on an independent, personalized project, that explores a specific “real-world” question or problem in bioinformatics, while also practicing and developing important employment and entrepreneurial skills including leadership, time management, scientific communication, data presentation, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Spring 2025 Capstone Project | Data Analytics | DANA4850
DANA4850
Students who enrolled in the DANA program would typically take courses within 4 semesters. Some students would take the fifth semester for gain more experience through a work term. The details of course per semesters are outlined on this page (https://langara.ca/programs-and-courses/programs/data-analytics/program-curriculum.html).During their final semester (4th semester), students would take the Capstone Project course. Through the capstone projects, teams consisting of 3-4 students work collaboratively over a period of approximately 4 months to progressively develop solutions ranging from initial concepts to functional prototypes. Their efforts involve applying AI and various machine learning techniques to analyze diverse types of data such as numbers, images, and texts. Students possess programming skills in Python, R and SAS.
DASSH 2199 - Applied Project - Social Sustainability focus.
DASSH 2199
My students are in the DASSH program - Applied Social Sciences and Humanities.Ideal projects involve addressing a problem or issue related to helping professions, social services, government, and agencies addressing social sustainability. In this class students simulate the creation of a social services agency or consulting firm and take the community partner as a 'client'.Students have a range of skills including a foundation in the social sciences and humanities, as well as foundational skills in accounting, business entrepreneurship, computer skills and computer business applications skills.
