Welcome to Level UP, powered by Riipen! This innovative program connects employers with Canadian post-secondary students for 60-hour paid projects. Students receive $1,400 CAD from Riipen upon successful project completion. EmployersHere’s how it works:Request to match your project to this July 2024 - February 2025 Portage College Level UP cycle. The Level UP team will review and either accept your match or request slight changes. Once your project is matched, students will apply to work on the project with you. You will review applications, and select the student(s) that you feel will be the best fit with your project. The student will set the team start and end dates in collaboration with you. This course covers the fundamental concepts and applications of protein characterization techniques ("proteomics") as well as how individual and community-wide metabolism are studied ("metabolomics"). Cutting-edge proteomics and metabolomics methods will be applied to real-world datasets and problems to characterize biological systems and explain phenotypes. This course will help prepare students for future work on using, characterizing, and designing novel protein and metabolism-based tools applicable to research and industrial applications. Students taking this course will gain skills for future work designing experiments, analyzing, and integrating data on the proteomes and metabolomes of various biological systems

This research-based course offers students the opportunity to apply and integrate knowledge and skills gained in previous courses and during their work internship experience. Students will take on an independent, personalized project, that explores a specific “real-world” question or problem in bioinformatics, while also practicing and developing important employment and entrepreneurial skills including leadership, time management, scientific communication, data presentation, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Learners will work on one design design cycle of a project over the experience of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.

Employers will pay students $20CAD/hr (hourly rate is negotiable).The University of Calgary’s International Professional Programs offers a unique opportunity for employers to engage with highly skilled learners from the Business Analysis, Intelligence, and Analytics program. These post-graduate learners are equipped with analytical skills and a deep understanding of digital transformation processes. Throughout their training, they develop competencies in data analysis, requirements gathering, and stakeholder engagement, and business intelligence, ensuring they are prepared to tackle real-world challenges.As an employer, you are expected to maintain regular communication with the learners, providing guidance and necessary information relevant to the project. Your commitment to providing constructive feedback on the learners’ work via the Riipen platform is appreciated.

These dedicated individuals are being trained to excel as Project Coordinators, equipped with essential skills to support project managers in executing projects efficiently and effectively. Through this collaboration, learners will develop competencies in project documentation, stakeholder communication, and risk management.As an employer, your role will include regular communication with the learners, providing guidance and necessary information pertinent to the project. Your participation in the final presentation is crucial, as well as your commitment to offering constructive feedback on the learners’ work using the Riipen platform.
