Bio

Dr. Kelly Renner has served as the Program Chair, Psychology & Social Sciences at Franklin University for the past seven years. During this time, she implemented a practicum course for students to gain experience in the field prior to committing to a graduate degree program or accepting a professional position. She has enjoyed teaching at Franklin University since 2012, and was a 2014 Teaching Excellence Award recipient, as well as the 2019 Inaugural Faculty Fellow. Prior to working full-time at Franklin University, Dr. Renner spent four years working in community mental health as a clinician. Her caseload included clients at various stages of the life span battling addictions, depression, anxiety, and personality disorders, as well as coping with all forms of abuse. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Miami University, a Master of Arts in Counseling from West Virginia University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Psychology from Florida State University. Dr. Renner currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Franklin County, the Psychology Program Advisory Board at Sinclair Community College, and is the President of the Board of Trustees for Youth Advocate Services. Her research interests, speaking engagements, professional presentations, and publications are on the topics of burnout, motivation, and team building.
