- What is the main goal for this project?

The Muslim Action Group is establishing a coalition of organizations and professionals mobilized towards a cohesive strategy to advocate for justice in Palestine and address Islamophobia and anti-Palestinian racism in Canada.
This project’s goal is to develop a strategy for: mobilizing the community at a grassroots level and leveraging political and legal professionals to advocate and lobby effectively.
We are hoping to find students that are excited to support this strategy, which will contribute to a movement for justice and peace resounding across Canada and the world.
- What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

The tasks learners will need to complete to achieve the project goal include:
Strategy and Management Learners (4): This will provide opportunities to learn about strategy, administration, finance, record-keeping, volunteer management, work processes, and social science research.
- Create a system to manage finances, including identifying financial needs and resources and brainstorming fundraising ideas.
- Create fundraising pitch decks for stakeholders.
- Create a tracker for Canadian initiatives on Palestine advocacy, helping to identify opportunities for synergy & collaboration and reducing redundancies.
- Research and keep apprised of existing relevant grassroots and political advocacy initiatives to add to the tracker.
- Set up a system for work processes, organizing files, and record-keeping.
- Schedule weekly team meetings, take meeting minutes, record action items, and follow up with team members on action items.
- Help create an organizational chart / structure for the coalition.
- Support and maintain data for student walkouts and protest initiatives.
- Research strategies to expand coalition membership (including research about historical social movements and partnership building) and develop a report with analysis and recommendations to strengthen the movement.
- Brainstorm ideas for indoor in-person grassroots campaigns and help implement them.
- Support the set-up of auto-fill campaign email templates, including research and copy-writing.
- Help develop speaking notes for meetings with politicians and stakeholders.
Marketing and Communication Learners (6): This will provide opportunities to learn about social media and marketing, stakeholder management, community engagement, and communications.
- Identify key stakeholders and potential allies in the sector and update the stakeholder tracker.
- Create a standard and customizable branding kit for company products (for e.g., deck, infographic, letterhead, flyer, announcement).
- Create customizable communication templates (emails, phone script, speaking points, FAQs, etc.) for stakeholder engagement and communicate with stakeholders.
- Research and create 2 - 3 information guides and media kits for stakeholders.
- Update the WhatsApp community broadcast groups with 3 - 5 approved daily posts.
- Interact with the community by answering questions through the company’s social platforms, including email.
- Update the website’s calendar with 2 - 3 events / initiatives weekly and with other content submitted by the team leads.
- Create content for and manage the movement’s social media accounts, including creating 2 - 4 daily posts.
- Create content for and send out periodic newsletters to volunteers and the community.
- Help create infographics and multimedia content with the marketing and communications team.
- Support the team with graphic design requests, creating 2 - 4 designs (flyers, posters, banners, decks, etc.) weekly.
- Assist in creating and implementing plans to increase followers on the company’s social media platforms.
- Create a simple tracking framework, including metrics, for measuring outreach success.
