Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

Project Background

College education can be quite challenging for students especially when there are no data driven tools or techniques to evaluate professors/lecturers’ ability to provide competency-based education that will equip them for the future job market. Choosing the best courses and professors is critical for every student for several reasons:

  • Students will want to understand the ROI of their education.

  • Students need to ensure they will learn applicable competencies for work ready, job performance.
  • After graduation, students will want to provide recruiters and selecting officials with evidence of their performance on job related competencies based on aggregate data) For example, “you are at the 95% percentile of performance in teamwork across the United States Students and will eventually want to add the data outcomes to their resumes. (Indeed, LinkedIn”.

Ungrade.us aims to address this gap.

Ungrade.us will initially target business school majors/occupations as business students are competitive, data driven and evaluation oriented. For example, accounting students. (Refer to business major breakdown)

Value Proposition

  • User-generated assessment of competencies that are purportedly being taught will make Ungrade.us the most accurate site for quickly researching and rating professors, colleges, and universities globally.
  • Students can assess their pre/post-performance on competencies associated with the course based on linkages with the Department of Labor’s Occupational Network (O*Net) on and
  • Rate their school as well, by visiting their school's Ungrade.us page.

ungrade.us will also be critical for colleges and universities for:

  • Accreditation purposes - the data will provide evidence of change in students, the product of education. * Currently there is no evidence of change in students outside of anecdotes.
  • Marketing - the data can be used to highlight individual programs, universities and national educational competence.
  • The review of aggregate data of as well as for syndicated research in evaluating educational institutions.

(Rankings like U.S. News and World report ratings are not based on actual student change. Ungrade.us will provide ratings to facilitate accurate ratings at a granular, predictive level.)

Ungrade.us will provide students with an easy way to evaluate their pre, and post-performance psychometrically in courses aligned with the occupational network of the Department of Labor’s competency model, in particular tiers one, two, three, and eight. Recommendations are made for improvement and tied to a past test to be taken to assess improvement. (Refer to this for about us page)

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?
  1. Project Plan- Identify goals, milestones, and set a timeline for the project
  2. Review requirements and existing designs- Familiarize themselves with the existing product to understand the requirements, design work, and feedback that already exists, and to identify gaps to be filled in the next stage.
  3. Draft and Complete full UI/UX for both Student and Professor use cases.
  4. Finalize- Handoff all deliverables and findings in a package that allows for your work to be easily understood and incorporated into future projects.

This will require several steps:

  • Design Audit- audit the current user flow to identify pain points, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement
  • Competitive research - analysis of direct or indirect competitors' design strengths and weaknesses, with actionable recommendations
  • User research- research plans, screener surveys, user interviews, and/or persona development to better understand users
  • Usability testing- summary of key findings and recommendations, or documentation of testing sessions to understand users’ experience of and interaction with your product
  • Redesign and/or redesign recommendations- design improved flows for the distinct user types. Workshop ideas and turn those into wireframes or mockups that show exactly how the solution could work
  • Prototype- once high fidelity mockups are complete, create a prototype in Figma that can be used to test and validate the designs
