Project scope
- What is the main goal for this project?
-
The Food Trucks Association of Canada registered as a federal nonprofit corporation in early Fall, 2020. However, this is the first year that its members have had the opportunity to operate without interruption due to COVID-19 impacts. We're looking to start fresh with renewed strategic plans, and this will result in changes to our marketing & communication, and monetization plans moving forward.
Based on the outline of your course and student learning opportunity, this work looks to be an excellent fit.
- What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?
-
To be successful and to produce the desired outcomes for the project, it would be valuable for the students to:
- develop a basic understanding of the operation of a food truck, and the average revenue potential
- make efforts to understand the unique challenges that face food trucks SEE: https://www.competitionbureau.gc.ca/eic/site/cb-bc.nsf/eng/04260.html
- understand the fundamental difference between marketing a food truck, versus marketing an association of food trucks, and what that looks like in terms of the differences in audiences, and the overall approach

An agile approach has been taken and we are now looking to redefine how we can best start and grow to support the industry. It is critically important to us to provide real and lasting value to our members.
Projects that are taken on by students and courses in the Riipen platform will be instrumental in our ability to build capacity to deliver that value.
To date, the work of the Food Trucks Association of Canada has been led by a volunteer Executive Director who is a passionate advocate in this space, and has leveraged a 75% student body of employees made available through various employment subsidies. It is a key part of our mandate to support student learning.
The NAICS code for the Food Trucks is 7223 and other code subsets.
