Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

The main goal of the project is to develop and execute a series of pilot EcoJackpot events in various communities within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Canada, under the management of Innovate Landfill Solution Canada (ILS). The events aim to engage the community in sustainable waste management practices, specifically focusing on the effective recycling of soft plastics and other materials often overlooked in traditional recycling programs. The project also aims to increase community engagement, enhance environmental awareness, collect and analyze data, develop sustainable practices, and build partnerships.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Tasks for learners to complete:

- Analyze data on participant engagement, recycling rates, and the effectiveness of various incentives and educational strategies used during the events.

- Create a strategic plan outlining sustainable practices introduced through the EcoJackpot events, with guidelines for replication in other communities.

- Analyze and recommend optimizing resource management based on the data collected from the events, focusing on logistics, waste sorting, and processing efficiencies.

Final deliverables:

- A detailed report summarizing the outcomes of the pilot events, including data on participation rates, volume and types of materials recycled, feedback from participants, and recommendations for future events.

- A marketing strategy plan & proposal.

- A sustainability strategy document.

ILS Canada leads in promoting environmental progress through the efficient collection of recyclables that were previously considered non-recyclable and disposed of as waste. It accomplishes this by organizing educational events that encourage communities and participants to actively contribute to the recycling circular economy, driving innovation in the sorting of recyclable materials.
