Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

The main goal for the project is to train and leverage AI to generate appropriate images of health chronic illness on the skin for the purpose of health education and health advocacy, particularly for Black and racialized populations. The project aims to use AI technology to create visual representations of skin conditions that are commonly experienced by these communities, in order to provide better health education and advocacy.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

- Analyzing and understanding the dataset of health chronic illness images and related information.

- Training and leveraging AI models such as Google Vertex AI Imagen and other AI language models to generate appropriate images of health chronic illness on the skin.

- Testing the developed AI models and making improvements based on additional data and feedback.

- Creating a report explaining the design process, outcomes, and the potential impact of the AI-generated images on health education and advocacy for Black and racialized populations.

The Racialized Students is a registered non-profit organization. We launched in 2020 during the onset of the pandemic. We were founded to be a resource for Black and racialized students to partake in meaningful research training and networking opportunities that help them advance throughout their academic journey and career journey.

We achieve this through the provision of mentorship, research, and employment training opportunities.

Our mission is to increase the representation of Black people across interdisciplinary Health sectors and increase the rate of employment among Black youth through career advancement training.

We envision a safer and inclusive Toronto where all Torontonians particularly Black and racialized communities can access services and employment free from racism and discrimination.
