Project scope
What is the main goal for this project?

PickEco Refills is a zero waste grocery store with a real passion! We want to be recognized in our community and nationally for the work that we are doing in environmentalism. We have a great story to tell and we want it to be picked up by media outlets. We need students to create press releases for us.

Students will need to:

  • Help us refine our story to something compelling and news-worthy
  • Help us tell the story of our founder who also free dives local lakes to clean up trash
  • Write up press releases around multiple news-worthy stories
  • Identify media outlets that are most beneficial to us/most likely to pick the story up
  • Send press releases and establish positive rapport with local media contacts
  • Find media exposure for our organization
What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

The final deliverables should take the form of:

  • Press releases that are ready to be published
  • A list of local media outlets that we can partner with along with contacts
  • Communication established with those media outlets and conversations underway promoting the press releases for our zero waste grocery store.

Retail, Environment

PickEco Refills is a zero waste grocery store in Chilliwack BC. We are more than a retail store, we are a hub for environmental activism and education. Our goal is simple: reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in our lakes, rivers and oceans. We have several approaches to this goal, and the first step is always education and prevention. We would love for you to be a part of our waste free future!
