Students in the Bachelor of Bio-Resource Management degree program majoring in Equine Management will work with your Equine enterprise to develop and organize a hands-on project that will benefit your business. These projects will enhance your business’s productivity, provide important feedback and recommendations for future advancements, and spread awareness of the business to other facilities and patrons.

Project examples

Requirements

Students working in teams of 2-4 will come and visit your facility/connect with you virtually a few times throughout the fall semester to gather information about your business and/or collect data. The students will sign a confidentiality waiver in order to ensure the business privacy and all students will be expected to follow a professional code of conduct. You will receive the final report from the students and a potential recommendation for increased productivity. At the end of the semester, the students will give a presentation of their discoveries – you are more than welcome to attend!

  • Customer satisfaction survey and SWOT analysis for a feed company
  • New product launch and marketing plan for a saddlery company
  • Development of client tracking software for a freelance equestrian coach
  • Creation of educational factsheets for public and SPCA officers for donkey welfare
  • Design of a new stable for expansion of an equine facility
  • Complete organizational design for hosting of a riding clinic
  • Parasite and pasture management plan for a boarding facility
  • Bloodline research and breeding management plan for breeding farm
  • Data collection and analysis of conformational traits of horses to inform saddle design for a saddlery company
